Por todos es sabido que la época más esperada por los sevillanos es la primavera: clima agradable, perfecto, rondando los 20ºC, los naranjos florecen, las calles huelen a azahar y los sevillanos salen a las calles para recibir a miles de turistas y celebrar sus fiestas más importantes: Semana Santa y Feria de Abril.
For all it is known that the most expected time by Sevillian people is spring: pleasant and perfect climate, hovering around 20ºC, orange trees bloom, the streets smell of orange blossom and Sevillian people go to the streets to welcome thousands of tourists and celebrate their most important festivals: Holly Week and April Fair.
¿Cuántas personas se reúnen en el real de la Feria para comer jamón, queso y “pescaíto” frito, beber rebujito, bailar sevillanas, divertirse en la “Calle del infierno” y pasar un buen rato (u horas) juntos? Pues la friolera de 500.000 personas cada día… Así las cosas, parecía claro que este año no se repetirían estas imágenes:
How many people gather in the real fair to eat ham, cheese and “pescaíto”, drink “rebujito”, dance “sevillanas”, have fun on the “Hell Street” and have a good time (or hours) together? Well, 500,000 people every day… Thus, it seemed clear that this year these images would not be repeated:
Pero quien pensara esto es porque no conoce Sevilla y la idiosincrasia de sus gentes. Ni siquiera una pandemia iba a impedir que los sevillanos vivieran su fiesta más grande y montaran sus casetas (eso sí, en sus propias casas y balcones -#stayathomestyle-), se pusieran sus trajes de flamenca (flor incluida) y se reunieran con sus familiares y amigos por videollamada.
But whoever thought this is because he doesn’t know Seville and the idiosyncrasies of his people. Not even a pandemic was going to stop Sevillians from living their biggest party and setting up their booths (yes, in their own houses and balconies -#stayathomestyle-), put on their flamenco costumes (flower included) and meet with their family and friends by video call.
